Of Counsel Attorney: Martha (Marty) P. Fitzhugh

Ms. Fitzhugh was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois. She earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work. Marty worked 21 years as a Bay City Public Schools Social Worker. In 1994, Marty received her J. D. from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. In 1995, she was appointed Bay County Corporation Counsel. After enjoying these fulfilling years of public service, she has commenced a limited “of counsel” practice at the law firm of Birchler, Fitzhugh, Purtell, and Brissette, PLC. Marty will concentrate her legal practice in the areas of municipal law, real estate, estate and business planning, probate and trust administration. In past years, Marty served on the Bay County Commission, the Delta College Board of Trustees, the Bay-Arenac Mental Health Services Board, and the United Way Board of Directors. She loves to spend time with her 4 grandchildren. Marty enjoys outdoor activities like boating, skiing and snow-shoeing. She is dedicated to the loving care of 3 family dogs, and especially enjoys time spent in dog agility training and events.
